A Weston woman faces multiple charges after the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police responded to a child guardianship dispute Sept. 17 on Cove Lick Road in Weston, according to a WDTV report.
WDTV reported that authorities said the woman attempted to leave in a Chrysler van while impaired by an unknown substance. The report says three children had been placed in the vehicle before law enforcement arrived, including one held in the woman’s lap and another described as unrestrained in the front passenger seat.
The report says a neighbor blocked the roadway with another vehicle while police were called. Deputies told WDTV that the woman showed severe signs of impairment, refused commands and actively resisted arrest.
According to WDTV, the woman faces three counts of child abuse, three counts of assault on law enforcement and three counts of battery on law enforcement. The report says she was being held in Central Regional Jail with no bond set at the time of publication.
These are allegations reported by WDTV from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office; a charge is not a conviction. LC Portal did not reuse the report’s image or the video noted as pending. Read the complete WDTV report for the source account.
