Pricetown Volunteer Fire Department shared a home safety reminder on Nov. 3 as cooler weather approaches, urging residents to check their alarms and take care when charging phones and other electronics.
Check alarms and batteries
The department’s notice asks residents to check smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries regularly and replace batteries when needed. It also recommends checking the manufacturer’s date and replacement guidance for each unit.
The graphic lists replacement for units more than 10 years old, or sooner when the manufacturer recommends it. Residents should follow the replacement instructions for their particular alarm or detector.
Keep charging devices uncovered
The notice advises charging phones and electronics on a hard, flat surface. It warns against charging devices under pillows or blankets or placing pillows on top of phones while they charge.
