Some Weston water customers could have low pressure, discolored water or no service Tuesday while West Virginia American Water crews complete an extended emergency tie-in repair.
The utility notice said work began at 7:30 a.m. and was expected to take about eight hours and 30 minutes. That points to an estimated completion around 4 p.m. Tuesday if the repair remains on schedule. The notice did not identify every street in the affected area, so customers should use West Virginia American Water's official alerts page for location-specific status.
When service returns, customers who see cloudy or discolored water should use cold water only and run the taps at the lowest level of the home for three to five minutes, or until the water is clear. The notice said landlords whose water service is in their name should share the information with tenants.
Customers should not approach crews at the repair site. West Virginia American Water said it would send another notice only if conditions change or additional action becomes necessary.
The repair alert was relayed Tuesday by Lewis County Commissioner Agnes Quinn Queen. Customers who need direct assistance can reach West Virginia American Water at 1-800-685-8660; the company says its emergency line is staffed around the clock.
