Weekend rain and localized flooding caused renewed damage in parts of southern Lewis County, according to a Sept. 15 report by WV News.
The report said residents in the Alum Bridge, Walkersville and Ireland areas were among those affected while continuing to recover from the July 21 flood. County Commission President Agnes Queen told WV News that some homes flooded again and that culverts and bridges washed out after residents had already paid to repair or replace them.
Queen also said at least one family had been displaced and connected with the Lewis County Family Resource Network. She encouraged affected residents to contact local agencies about assistance as cleanup and recovery continue.
The weekend flooding was described as less severe overall than the July event, but the report noted that households hit again face another cleanup and recovery process.
