The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reported a Stonewall Jackson Lake elevation of 1,074.83 feet at 7:30 a.m. Monday, September 14—2.33 feet above the summer-pool elevation.
USACE said Gate No. 1 was open 1.50 feet, with a discharge of 360 cubic feet per second and a river gauge height of 9.66 feet. The operator reported an outflow-water temperature of 73 degrees and a lake-surface temperature of 79 degrees.
The morning observation recorded partly cloudy skies, 0.23 inches of precipitation in the prior 24 hours and an air temperature of 65 degrees. USACE described both the lake and tailwaters as stained and cautioned boaters to watch for floating debris.
These are dated operator observations, not a determination that boating or swimming is safe. Questions about boat-launch ramps should go to WVDNR. Read the September 14 USACE lake update.
