The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reported a Stonewall Jackson Lake elevation of 1,072.80 feet at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, September 11—0.30 feet above the summer-pool elevation.
USACE said Gate No. 1 was open 0.50 feet, with a discharge of 65 cubic feet per second and a river gauge height of 8.71 feet. The operator reported an outflow-water temperature of 74 degrees and a lake-surface temperature of 80 degrees.
The morning observation recorded cloudy skies and 1.33 inches of precipitation in the prior 24 hours. USACE described both the lake and tailwaters as stained and cautioned boaters to watch for floating debris.
These are dated operator observations, not a determination that boating or swimming is safe. Questions about boat-launch ramps should go to WVDNR. Read the September 11 USACE lake update.
