Disaster Recovery Centers serving Lewis and Upshur counties will remain open through October 17, according to an October 6 Facebook announcement by Agnes Quinn Queen. The extension gives residents affected by flooding more time to seek in-person help and ask questions about disaster assistance.

Locations and hours

The Lewis County center is at the former Summit Center on Elizabeth Drive in Weston. The Upshur County center is at the Upshur County Development Authority Building on Main Street in Buckhannon.

Queen listed hours for the centers as Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Her announcement encourages residents who still have questions, need assistance or have not yet spoken with someone about available help to visit during the extension. It also asks neighbors to check on elderly relatives, friends and neighbors who may still need assistance.

Queen said residents continue to come forward for help weeks after the flooding. The announcement does not specify eligibility requirements for disaster assistance.

The extension and locations were announced in Queen’s October 6 Facebook post.
