Lewis County plans to open bids Tuesday, November 10, toward awarding a contract to a debris removal company for flood victims whose demolished homes remain on the ground, according to Agnes Quinn Queen’s November 4 announcement.
Queen addressed residents still waiting for that debris to be removed. She described state and federal requirements as an exhausting part of the recovery process. Her announcement identifies bid opening as the next step; it does not announce a contractor selection or a date when removal crews will begin work.
The update concerns debris from homes already demolished. In a separate November 2 recovery update, Queen said residents still needed help mucking out homes and nearly two dozen homes needed demolition as Christ In Action returned for a second West Virginia deployment. The new announcement does not say that the proposed debris removal contract is connected to that organization’s work.
