Giovanni's Restaurant in Weston is serving customers again after a monthlong rebuild from the July 21 flood.
WDTV reported that the damage required an almost complete renovation, including new floors and booths. Manager Karli Hamrick said the family considered whether reopening was possible before deciding to rebuild the restaurant her father has owned since 1993.
During the final week, crews worked 13- to 14-hour days to finish the project and pass the required health inspection. Hamrick credited donors and volunteers from Lewis County, neighboring counties and outside West Virginia with supplying money, materials and labor. Local young people also helped with demolition and cleanup.
The restaurant reopened September 1 with its full menu and regular pre-flood hours. A few menu items were still being restocked during opening week, but the business did not announce broader service restrictions. Its official page lists dine-in, takeout and delivery at 451 U.S. Highway 33 East.
Lewis County Commissioner Agnes Quinn Queen also confirmed the reopening as part of the county's recovery updates. The return restores another family-owned employer and dining option while flood repairs continue across Weston.
Customers planning a special trip can check Giovanni's official page for current hours and availability. WDTV's reopening report includes the restaurant family's account of the rebuild.
