The deadline to apply for FEMA disaster assistance is Oct. 3, according to a Lewis County Chamber of Commerce notice. The chamber says two Weston locations can help people apply and answer FEMA questions.
The Disaster Recovery Center is at 37 Elizabeth Street, next to Dollar General and behind Wendy’s. Its listed hours are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
FEMA is also available at the Market Place Flood Relief Distribution Center, 284 Market Place Mall, in the old Kroger building to the right of Dollar Tree. The chamber says staff there can complete intake registrations, check registration status and answer questions. The posted hours are Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., through Oct. 2. The chamber says FEMA will continue at that location until further notice but gives no hours beyond Oct. 2.
The notice’s accompanying flyer says FEMA assistance is not a loan and encourages people with disaster-related damage or loss to apply so FEMA can determine what assistance may be available.
