Keith Talbert works across several parts of Lewis County’s public-safety system, according to a September 11 profile by Noah Jeffries in the Weston News.
Talbert is assistant director of the Lewis-Gilmer E911 Center and the Lewis County Office of Emergency Management. He also serves as deputy chief of the Weston Fire Department. The report describes responsibilities that include supporting dispatchers, maintaining computer-aided dispatch systems and preparing crews for incidents.
The profile also recounts Talbert’s work during the July 21 flooding, including helping with the evacuation center and the setup of West Virginia National Guard operations. It says he has spent about five years in his current emergency-management and dispatch roles and about 15 years as a firefighter.
Looking ahead, Talbert told the Weston News that he is interested in tools that could help 911 dispatchers access information more quickly, including a system that lets responders view what a caller sees after a text-link connection.
