A Weston fundraiser built around a Fallout-inspired community event raised $10,483.75 and gathered more than 800 donated goods and auction contributions for the next stage of flood recovery in Lewis and Upshur counties.
Vault 304's organizer reported that the August 22 Reclamation Day effort brought in 676 donated goods. Artists from around the world contributed another 125 items or packages to the silent auction. The cash total was reported separately as $10,483.75.
The City of Weston had promoted the event as a benefit for residents rebuilding after the July 21 flood. Dr. Jekyll's Institute of Monster Studies hosted the day at the Old Camden Hotel, combining an immersive themed gathering with supply collection, a silent auction and direct donations.
The result post describes the money and supplies as support for second-stage recovery in Weston and Buckhannon. The original city listing said donations and proceeds would be split between Lewis and Upshur county efforts, but organizers have not published a final county-by-county breakdown. The portal therefore is not assigning a specific share of the $10,483.75 to either county.
People still needing second-stage help were directed to Central West Virginia HeartHouse in the Weston area or the Parish House in Upshur County. The organizer also pointed residents to a free Weston supply center near Tractor Supply. Because locations and hours can change, residents should verify current assistance through the City of Weston recovery guide before traveling.
