The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Stonewall Jackson Lake operator reported a 7:30 a.m. lake elevation of 1,072.97 feet Sunday, September 20, or 0.47 feet above the summer pool elevation.
Gates 1 and 2 were open 0.75 feet, with an outflow of 200 cubic feet per second and a river-gauge height of 9.07 feet. Outflow water temperature was 73 degrees, the current air temperature was 69 degrees and the lake-surface temperature was 79 degrees.
The operator reported heavy rain and 0.77 inches of precipitation during the preceding 24 hours. Lake and tailwater conditions were described as stained.
The operator cautioned boaters about floating debris and directed questions about boat-launching ramps to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. These are the operator’s recorded conditions for that observation; they do not by themselves establish a general safety rating, closure or access change. The operator page was collected September 20, but Facebook did not display the original publication time.
