West Virginia committed $400,000 from the Governor's Civil Contingency Fund to help relocate approximately 400 Robert L. Bland Middle School students to WVU Jackson's Mill.

The temporary move became necessary after floodwater severely damaged the middle-school building in Weston. The state funding was intended to support the immediate transition while local and state officials continued assessing repairs and longer-term costs.

The same recovery update noted $126,000 from a local economic-infrastructure fund and continuing National Guard assistance. The middle-school students were later scheduled to begin at Jackson's Mill on September 8.
