A post by Robert Weaver on The WWN says NBC Nightly News has featured the data center dispute in Point Pleasant, where residents have raised concerns about flooding and runoff, construction noise and potential property damage.
The post says Nscale acknowledged that runoff from the Monarch site reached neighboring property and established a home-purchasing program for residents near the development.
It also cites West Virginia’s HB 2014, saying certified high-impact data center and microgrid projects are exempt from county and municipal requirements including zoning, building permits and other local licensing requirements. The post further says Gov. Patrick Morrisey has released a data center plan addressing community involvement and protections related to water and electric rates, while noting that Mountain State Spotlight reported some of those protections are policy goals rather than current legal requirements.
