The National Weather Service Charleston office issued a flood watch that includes Lewis County from 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, through noon Monday, Sept. 21.

The National Weather Service said flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Excessive runoff may flood rivers, creeks, streams and other low lying or flood prone locations.

Additional rounds of heavy showers and storms are expected from Sunday evening through Monday morning. The agency said locations that received heavy rain earlier Sunday face the greatest risk for additional flash flooding overnight.

Residents should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action if flash flood warnings are issued.
