Fourteen volunteers spent Friday and Saturday helping the Mountaineer Military Museum begin recovering in downtown Weston.
Before renovation could start, the team removed flood-damaged material and stripped away damaged drywall. Volunteers wore masks because contaminated flood debris can create airborne health risks. Once the interior was opened, crews began sanitizing exposed areas.
Museum memorabilia was moved outside to dry while tools and workers filled the building. The effort protected a local collection and moved the museum from emergency cleanup toward the slower work of repair and reopening.
