West Virginia extended the state of emergency associated with the July 21 storms through September 19 for 12 counties, including Lewis.
The additional time kept emergency authorities available while communities continued debris removal, public-infrastructure work and survivor assistance. An extension does not mean every program shares the same deadline; residents and businesses must still check the individual dates for FEMA, SBA, unemployment and local recovery applications.
For Lewis County, the extension formally recognized that recovery would continue well beyond the first weeks after the flood.
