A Lewis County community project is seeking volunteers to help assemble 20 sensory and comfort bags intended for local emergency responders.
Carrie Dawn outlined the proposal in The WWN on September 7. She says the bags are intended for police, fire and EMS personnel to have available when encountering autistic children during emergencies. This is an organizer-led proposal, not a confirmed department-operated program.
Her planned contents include noise-reducing headphones, sunglasses, quiet fidget toys, stuffed animals, crayons, dry-erase boards and laminated communication materials. She also described preparing a companion packet for responders. The portal has not independently reviewed those materials and is not presenting them as medical advice or approved emergency-response procedures.
The initial target is 20 completed bags. The announcement does not name departments that have agreed to accept them, identify a delivery date or report how many bags are already assembled.
The organizer invites people interested in assembly or delivery help to contact her through the original public post. She says she plans to share photographs and delivery updates. The post also links a supply wish list; its handling and purchases have not been independently audited by the portal.
Future coverage will distinguish the current plan from confirmed deliveries and participation by specific agencies.
