Lewis County Senior Center's book club will meet Tuesday, September 1, at 1 p.m. at the Central West Virginia HEART House, 266 Main Avenue in Weston. New books have arrived, and the club expects to use the temporary location on the first Tuesday of each month while the center remains displaced.
The July flood left more than two feet of water in the Senior Center building at 171 West Second Street, interrupting regular activities including bingo, social time, and hot-meal service. HEART House made its former law-office space available so group programming could begin again. Other temporary Senior Center activities are being held there Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
The center's in-home staff has continued working and checking on seniors during the disruption, and meal delivery remained available in the countywide August 23 service snapshot.
Because the temporary schedule may change as recovery progresses, participants can confirm an activity before traveling by calling the Lewis County Senior Center at 304-269-5738.
