Lewis County schools are emphasizing regular attendance during September’s Attendance Awareness Month, according to a Sept. 2 report by the Weston News.
Lewis County Superintendent Carolyn Long told the newspaper that attendance expectations remain the same for students at Robert L. Bland Middle School, even while the school’s students temporarily attend classes at WVU Jackson’s Mill because of the July 21 flooding. The report says the temporary location does not change the district’s expectation that students attend school and continue learning.
The selected report also describes attendance goals and incentive efforts in Upshur County. Those details are not Lewis County policy; this brief focuses on the Lewis County statements.
