Lewis County's school board will consider a broad set of student-support, safety, facilities and financial proposals when it meets Monday, September 14, at 6 p.m.

The public meeting will be held at Lewis County High School, 205 Minuteman Way in Weston. Lewis County Schools also provides a meeting livestream.

Several agenda items concern services for students. The board is scheduled to consider continuing and expanding school-based mental-health services through United Summit Center, participating in the RCS Kids Thrive program, contracting for nursing services and retaining specialists who support students with autism and hearing impairments.

The board will also consider a 2026-27 Preventative Resource Officer agreement with the Lewis County Commission for Lewis County High School and Robert L. Bland Middle School. A separate proposal covers private fire-protection service for Roanoke Elementary School.

Another agreement would let the high-school boys basketball program use the St. Patrick Church gym from September 15 through June 30, 2027. The agenda does not say that the agreement has already been approved.

Proposed board goals for the school year include improving student assessment results, reviewing finances monthly, addressing longstanding facility problems, maintaining a balanced budget and working with families and staff to sustain academics and extracurricular activities after the July 21 flood.

Financial business includes consideration of $1,692,049.20 in bills, the August financial report and a discussion of the audit process. The agenda also allows for a possible executive session concerning financial priorities and draft fiscal-year 2027 budgets.

Recognition items include student participation in statewide programs, a regional JROTC instructor honor and a proposed proclamation for Why Apply Day on September 18.

Every item remains a proposal until the board acts, and the agenda may be adjusted at the meeting. Residents can review the complete official agenda and attachments before attending or watching.
