FirstEnergy’s Lewis County outage count reached zero in its report updated at 5:46 a.m. Friday, September 4. The utility listed 9,633 customers served and no customers without power in that county snapshot.
That replaces the earlier picture in the utility’s 1:16 a.m. report, which showed 29 customers without electricity. The morning report does not identify the exact time service was restored or establish the cause of the overnight interruptions.
County Commissioner Agnes Quinn Queen had reported 100 homes without power as of 10:40 p.m. Thursday, September 3. Her ZIP-code breakdown placed 85 in Roanoke, 13 in Walkersville and one each in Crawford and Weston. Queen’s notice included a 2:30 a.m. Friday restoration estimate; the records reviewed do not establish whether that estimate was met.
The commissioner described homes and ZIP-code totals, while FirstEnergy’s report counts customer accounts by county. Those figures should not be subtracted to calculate an exact number of homes restored.
A zero on the county map is not a substitute for checking service at an individual address. Residents still without electricity should report their outage even if a neighbor has already done so. FirstEnergy lists online reporting through its outage-help page, texting OUT to 544487, and calling 1-888-544-4877. For a downed power line, call 911 and stay at least 30 feet away.
Check the utility’s county outage report for later conditions. The map refreshes every 15 minutes, and the utility cautions that an outage may take up to 35 minutes to appear. Queen’s original notice provides the earlier local breakdown.
Update, September 4 at 5:46 a.m.: The latest utility report lists zero Lewis County customers out. This article originally covered the 1:16 a.m. report of 29 outages; its original publication date is preserved.
