The National Weather Service in Charleston says a flood watch remains in effect for Lewis County until noon EDT Monday, Sept. 21, as excessive rainfall continues to create the possibility of flash flooding.

The watch includes rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying or flood-prone locations. The weather service says slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through late morning, with areas that have already received heavy rain most vulnerable to additional flooding.

Residents should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action if flash flood warnings are issued. Read the National Weather Service alert.
