The Lewis County Commission approved a separate account for flood-related invoices at its August 18 meeting.

County Clerk Becky Carder requested the fund through the West Virginia State Auditor's Uniform Chart of Accounts. Separating disaster invoices from routine spending should make it easier to track the county's true recovery costs and document expenses for audits or reimbursement requests.

The action did not create new relief money by itself. It established the accounting structure needed to process and report the bills generated by cleanup and recovery work.
