Jackson's Mill Volunteer Fire Department will host a roughly 70-mile ATV and UTV dice ride Saturday, September 12, to raise money for the local department.
Doors open at 8 a.m., and riders may register from 8 to 11 a.m. at the fire station at 3000 Jackson Mill Road in Weston. Registration is $20 for drivers and $10 for riders.
The department says the route follows mostly gravel back roads, with some dirt trail and unavoidable stretches of blacktop. A muddy section is optional and can be bypassed. Participants may travel at their own pace; the announcement still does not give a separate group departure time.
Breakfast at registration will include biscuits, gravy and home fries. The fundraiser also plans food and raffles, with T-shirts, stickers and can coozies available.
Drivers hauling machines should first use the parking lot before the barn. Overflow trailer parking will be on the blacktop at the old airstrip. Organizers say signs will be posted, ask drivers to stay off the grass and advise unloading before going to the fire department to register.
The organizer has not published a rider-age rule or machine requirements. Anyone who needs those details should check with Jackson's Mill Volunteer Fire Department before arriving. The latest information appeared in Lewis County, WV Announcements, and the basic event details are independently listed on My Buckhannon's fundraiser calendar.
Updated September 11: This story now includes the 70-mile route description, breakfast menu, optional mud bypass, merchandise and trailer-parking instructions added to the organizer's notice.
