HeartHouse is asking volunteers to help make Christmas decorations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, as part of the inaugural Rod Wyman Day of Action.
Volunteers will gather at HeartHouse to build oversized pool noodle candy canes, lollipop decorations and lighted candy garland. Light refreshments will be provided, according to Central West Virginia HeartHouse’s Oct. 14 Facebook announcement.
HeartHouse said it received a grant from Lewis County First for the Rod Wyman Action Project, which honors the late county commissioner’s community involvement by encouraging residents, organizations and volunteer groups to carry out practical service projects.
The decorations will be used for Christmas in the Lobby celebrations and elsewhere. Beginning Nov. 20, HeartHouse is working with United Way of Gilmer, Lewis & Upshur and the Museum of American Glass in West Virginia on a series of holiday events in the former United Bank lobby in the Camden Building in downtown Weston.
Plans for the decorated lobby include a children’s shopping day, a Trees of Hope raffle, gift wrapping services, visits from Santa, gifts from Five Below and a gala among the trees.
