A free West Virginia DNR hunter education class is scheduled for Oct. 19–21, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. each evening at the Harrison County Recreation Complex, 43 Recreation Drive in Clarksburg. Lewis County residents considering the class should note that it meets on all three evenings.
According to Kimberly Chester Malejko’s Facebook post, volunteer instructors and Natural Resources Police officers will teach firearm and hunting safety, wildlife management, game identification, hunting ethics, survival, first aid and responsible hunting practices.
Participants must be at least 10 years old by Oct. 21. Students age 12 and younger must have an adult with them during class. The post says West Virginia law requires hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1975, to complete hunter education certification before obtaining a hunting license.
Registration is required, and space is limited. The registration address supplied in the post is register-ed.com/events/view/247863.
