Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders is asking for donations to help build a new home for Billy and Letitia, a Weston family displaced by flooding. In its November 2 announcement, the organization said volunteers would build the home this November.
The organization said Letitia Lowther carried a neighbor’s baby through chest-deep floodwater with her teenage daughter beside her. Her husband, Billy, helped pull them to safety and then returned to rescue others, according to the organization’s account.
The family survived but lost its home. Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders said Billy and Letitia have lived in a donated camper since July and have no insurance or FEMA funds to replace the house. Those details are the organization’s account of the family’s circumstances, rather than guidance about disaster-assistance eligibility.
How to help
The organization’s fundraising campaign has a $25,000 goal. When reviewed November 5, the campaign page listed $350 from four supporters. Contributions can be made through that page.
Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders also shared a video of Billy and Letitia telling their story and asked supporters to share it. Agnes Quinn Queen shared the appeal November 2, identifying them as a Lewis County family and thanking the organization for its recovery work.
