FirstEnergy presented a $20,000 contribution to the Lewis County Family Resource Network at Weston's flood-relief center August 26, adding flexible financial support as the county moves from emergency response into longer-term recovery.
FRN Director Deanna Palmer said the local operation had received more than 570 pallets of donated and purchased goods, with the value of those items exceeding $1 million. The organization is still calculating the combined value of financial contributions.
The requested mix is changing. Early demand centered on bleach, paper towels, squeegees, and immediate cleanup supplies; current recovery work increasingly calls for dehumidifiers, box fans, household goods, appliances, and water heaters. The FRN and Lewis County Commission are also arranging storage for building materials that partner groups can use while repairing homes. That storage location will not operate as a public walk-in distribution site.
The main distribution center at the former Kroger building in Marketplace Plaza remains active, but its schedule is being set and reassessed in short intervals. Residents and donors should verify current hours and priority needs before making a special trip.
