Lewis County is remembering Christopher Scott “Scotty” Linger, a Weston native whose working life and community ties made him a familiar face in local grocery stores. Linger, 55, of Buckhannon, died Saturday, September 5, at WV Caring Hospice in Elkins.

Born June 18, 1971, in Weston, Linger graduated from Lewis County High School in 1989. He began working at the Weston IGA while still in school and later held roles at Foodland and Shop-N-Save, including work as a meat cutter. His family's notice describes a versatile grocery-retail career built around helping customers and coworkers.

Linger also belonged to Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1376 in Weston. Away from work, he followed WVU athletics and enjoyed grilling for family and friends.

His survivors include three siblings as well as nieces, great-nieces and other extended family members. The funeral home's complete notice provides names and additional family information.

Linger's request for cremation has been carried out. A celebration of life is planned, but its date, time and location had not been announced as of Sunday afternoon. Readers interested in attending should check the official notice for an updated service schedule rather than relying on an unconfirmed date circulated elsewhere.

Condolences, the complete family notice and future arrangement updates are available through Pat Boyle Funeral Home's official obituary page.
