Antero Resources distributed 500 free backpacks to Lewis County children at Market Plaza in Weston ahead of the school year.
Employees helped families select backpacks during the August 13 distribution. Supplies that remained afterward stayed at the Weston flood-relief center so students who could not attend the event could still receive one.
The giveaway reduced a basic back-to-school expense for families already managing flood damage, temporary housing or disrupted work. Its August 14 publication date is preserved with the archived report and images.
