Reenactor Andrea Lamb will bring the Civil War’s home-front experience to Horner during a lunch presentation at Hacker’s Creek Pioneer Descendants’ Civil War History Weekend on Saturday, October 10.
The program, “The Plight of the Confederate Wife,” will explore the experiences of Margaret Jackson Bennett and other women who faced hardship, divided loyalties and the consequences of their husbands’ involvement in the Confederate cause, according to a community notice by Andrea Moneypenny Clem.
Presentation and lunch
The notice identifies Lamb as a reenactor and HCPD member and describes her presentation as a free show. Attendees are invited to get lunch from Social BlendZ and attend the program. A separate presentation time and lunch price were not supplied.
The notice lists Saturday’s event hours as 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Central WV Genealogy & History Library, 45 Abbott’s Run Road in Horner. Those hours describe the event day, rather than an exact starting time for Lamb’s talk.
Part of a two-day history program
The organizer’s official event listing confirms the third annual weekend takes place October 9–10, 2026. It begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. and concludes Saturday at 5 p.m. The Friday ending time is not listed.
HCPD plans music, demonstrations and Civil War history speakers on the grounds and inside the former Horner Grade School, which now houses the library. The organizer says food will be available for purchase and credits Rotary of Weston and Village Caregiver of Clarksburg as sponsors. The free-show statement in Clem’s notice concerns Lamb’s presentation; it does not establish admission terms for all weekend activities.
Clem’s post was captured at 12:11 a.m. EDT September 30; Facebook did not display its original posting time. The organizer’s dated listing was separately checked the same morning.
